Sculptural beauty and function are two components that I find can work well together. There are many forms available but I find the construction of the teapot to be fascinating. The simple action of pouring tea can become a complicated series of oversized shapes and designs that can question the very functionality of the form.
A “ring”, symbolizes completeness, and perfection; it symbolizes everything or nothing – an empty hole or that which holds everything together. The rings I create are hollow, creating a vessel to hold thoughts, beliefs, ideas, memories, events, and emotions.
These thoughts and beliefs inspire the form and title of each piece. Growth and development are stimulated through ideas, memories and events. Emotions feed the uncontrollable desire to create an energy that encompasses the soul.
